Sanyo Zio launches at Cricket

The mobile provider Cricket has announced that have begun selling the Sanyo Zio phone. This is Crickets first Android phone and only its second smart phone (The other current smart phone offering is the BlackBerry Curve). Now the Sanyo Zio does not have all of the hottest specs for an Android phone, but it is a decent mid-range phone. Cricket is a regional CDMA carrier that has recently expanded into high speed data phones. It also provides its phones without a contract and has very competitive prices. For example, Cricket sells the Zio for $230 but has a $55/month unlimited talk, text and data plan. In comparison, Verizon’s all you can use plan runs $120/month. Cricket’s solution is much cheaper overall and follows on the heels of Boost mobile’s economical offering of the Motorola i1. Let’s hope this becomes a trend.
